Earth’s Fleet of Starships

“Earth’s Fleet of Starships.”

I saw quite a few Star Trek space scenes from someone at Deviant Art, he used NASA real space images as backgrounds and his renders looked so close to reality as to be photographs. I decided to try a few myself.

This render was Composed in Carrara with three distant lights for effect. One main as Sun, and two for bounce light from the atmosphere.

The Starships are from the untextured 2010 SOLAR SHIPS pack by rj001. I textured and rendered these in Carrara!

Yes, I took the plunge a few months back and bought Carrara Pro. I am loving Carrara. There is so much more you can do with Carrara than I can with DAZ Studio.

The Station651 model is by shawnaloroc. This one comes textured and ready for Poser, so I had to place the textures in the correct areas manually for Carrara.

I think this image came out awesome!

Nice work. So that is a photo? I was going to say that would have to be one of the best 3D planets I’ve seen in recent times. Actually, I’m confused. Those look like volumetric 3D clouds. Eh, either way, Carrara is great. I never got the hang of it though. I always found Hexagon’s modeller a lot more user friendly. Eventually I drifted over to different programs. I think Carrara will still fit in my workflow somewhere along the line.

Oh, and forgot to mention I enjoy stopping in here from time to time. You post some great work, and I like blogs. It’s nice to get away from the noise of the various communities and just have a good brows through someone’s work every now and then.

Yes, that is a background. The clouds do look like volumetric clouds now that you mention it. It could just be a hurricane. I have no further data on the background.

I don’t model myself and I do find the Carrara modeler confusing, so I too just use Hexagon whenever I want to break-up Object models or make left and right copies of a model. It’s easier for me.

Thanks for regularly stopping by and appreciating my work. 🙂
